Yep you read that right!

I will write this in the most lady-like manner that I can, but take note if this is something that does not interest you personally, do not read on.

Last weekend I had my first colonic, colon cleanse, colon hydrotherapy, colonic irrigation etc. The backstory (pun intended) is that I was talking to a new friend about them and was immediately intrigued. I had tried enemas but this especially tweaked my interest. Mainly because I have been undergoing my own personal journey and the idea of this was almost like a kickstart.

Through my own research, I found that a colonic can be amazing for your health. Colon hydrotherapy washes away the toxins that build up over the course of your lifetime, leaving your colon fresh, clean, and no more toxins. I also learned that a colonic can treat irregularity, constipation, indigestion, diarrhea, gas, bloat, hemorrhoids, IBS, diverticulitis, colitis, parasites, skin conditions, and much more. Although some of the medical community still do not agree, I had heard enough good stuff to try it for myself!

I called around some places and found Sunshine Colonics, as soon as I called Joel was super helpful in making my appointment and explaining some things to me about what to do before I came.  I arrived on the day of my appointment and found the environment very welcoming, Ali was taking me through the process which helped as she was actually a familiar face.

My experience was as follows:

  • Ali explained the entire process, then left the room
  • I undressed from the waist down, and lay down on a comfortable chair/bed
  • I put on gloves, used the coconut oil, and went from there
  • Then I covered myself from the waist down with a soft sheet and towel
  • Finally, I buzzed Ali who came back in to tell me what was next

As for the process, a slow stream of water runs inside and fills your colon. You hold it in as long as you can and then you release it. You then continue to repeat this for the length of your procedure. You also switch the dial between hot/cold water.

Prior to entering the room I wondered what I would do the whole time sat there but to be honest, I was super relaxed/intrigued the whole time. The main reason I was intrigued was because there is actually a viewing funnel which is super interesting, I am not sure what I was expecting to see but it didn’t stop me from looking, although nothing out of the ordinary was on display. The relaxation came after time as initially I was quite anxious but I was somewhere aware of what to expect from the prior enemas.

Once I finished up I was warmly greeted with a probiotic and some water and a few tips on what to do once I went home.

I would certainly recommend colonics for anyone that is interested and the Sunshine Colonics team made the process really great. I can’t wait to go back!
